SmartData All-In-One

SmartData

The one view a principal opens every morning.

A student’s attendance dips in September. A course grade slips in October. A referral shows up in November. Three separate systems, three separate staff members, and nobody connects the dots until the pattern is six months old. SmartData pulls attendance, behavior, course performance and assessment data into one daily view, with automated early-warning triggers that catch the combination before it becomes a crisis.

Fit check

SmartData is a strong fit when most of the following are true. No scoring, no gimmick, just recognition.

Wants one dashboard for attendance, behavior, course success and assessment data instead of four disconnected systems.

Runs, or wants to build, a Tier 1 / Tier 2 MTSS/RTI framework for general education students.

Needs documented general-education behavior support plans, not just a discipline log.

Wants an early-warning system that flags at-risk students automatically, districtwide.

Needs state and local assessment data visualized by school, grade and subgroup, without a manual pull.

SmartData does not replace the SIS, the gradebook, the discipline log or the assessment portal. It wraps around them, so a principal, counselor or curriculum director opens one dashboard instead of four, every day, not once a quarter.

Attendance & Early Warning

Daily and period attendance, behavior and course-failure data combine into one signal as the day happens. Chronic-absence flags and at-risk triggers recompute nightly, districtwide, with no manual pull.

Who reads it: Principals, counselors, central office.

The weekly MTSS rhythm

Weekly

Check the early-warning flags weekly, not quarterly. A flag caught in week three is a conversation. The same pattern caught in week twelve is a crisis.

Meetings

Bring data, not impressions, to MTSS meetings. “Despite four weeks of Tier 2 support, attendance hasn’t moved” beats “he’s just not trying.”

Closure

Close every Tier 2 plan with a decision. A plan that quietly ends without a documented outcome teaches the team nothing for next time.

Drafts

Treat every AI-suggested intervention as a starting draft. Your team’s judgment about this student and this campus is what makes the plan actually work.

Tier 1 and Tier 2, on purpose

Too many so-called MTSS platforms are special-education referral tools wearing a general-education label: every flag quietly nudges a student toward an evaluation, until staff learn to avoid the system for anything short of a real disability concern. SmartData was built the opposite way. It is the district’s daily-use, whole-population dashboard first.

SmartData surfaces patterns. Staff design the response. Every early-warning flag is a candidate for review, never a label.

Tier 1 (Universal) means every student is visible on the same screening view. Nobody has to be flagged as struggling to show up. Tier 2 (Targeted) means a documented general-education intervention: a start date, a specific skill target, a progress-monitoring tool and cadence, and a logged outcome decision at the end of the cycle.

Where this stops on purpose: a Tier 3 concern or a suspected disability hands off to the district’s own special education evaluation process. SmartData documents the Tier 1 and Tier 2 intervention history that hand-off needs. It never runs a special education evaluation itself.

No. It wraps around them. The SIS, the gradebook, the discipline log and the assessment portal all keep working exactly as they do today; SmartData puts their four views on one screen, read every day rather than once a quarter.
